DESCRIPTION OF TERESÓPOLIS Teresópolis and the County of Teresópolis has about 200,000 inhabitants. It is located in the Atlantic Mountain Range (approx.3000 ft) about one and a half hours (by first class, mostly four lane, highway) from the center of Rio De Janeiro (1 hour,15 min from the international airport). It is a historic mountain resort town with no heavy or polluting industry. It has historically been used as a week-end and vacation destination for "CARIOCAS" (people from RIO). The city has all customary service infra-structure (hotels, hospitals, clinics, banks, post offices, good public transportation, supermarkets and stores and numerous good restaurant). In recent years many people from Rio De Janeiro have decided to move to Teresópolis permanently due to the easy commute to RIO, the climate and clean air and the low crime rate. The house is located in the Lùcas Valley, five minutes car drive from the center or a good 15 min walk. The best hospital in town (with helicopter pad) is located 5 minutes away. Lùcas is a fully residential area, extremely quiet and with beautiful views of the town center, the mountain ranges and the site of the training camp of the Brazilian National Soccer Team. Summer day temperatures average 85F and winter 70F. There is no need for air conditioning. There are several country clubs in the area, including a golf club and an equestrian center.
